Arrests Made In Benson Business Robberies

Benson Police have arrested two men in connection with the Dec. 20 robbery of Domino’s in Benson. One of the men has also been charged with the robbery of the Subway restaurant in Benson last week.

Jeremy Jackson, 40, of Benson and Joe Stokes Jr., 36, of Newton Grove were arrested by Benson Police Sunday for the Dec. 20 robbery of Domino’s. Mr. Jackson was also charged with the robbery of Subway in Benson last Wednesday. A third person is still sought in the Domino’s robbery.

Around 9 p.m. Dec. 20 three men walked into the Domino’s Pizza located at 107 N. Honeycutt St. Two were carrying handguns and the third was brandishing a black shotgun.

According to Benson Police, the three suspects  jumped over the counter and ordered the two employees, who were in the store at the time, to the floor. The suspect wielding the shotgun ordered the employees to open the safe and the cash register.

According to the report, approximately $300 in rolled coins were taken from both the safe and the cash register. The coins were stuffed into a plastic IGA shopping bag.

As they were leaving, one of the suspects took a coat belonging to one of the employees with a diamond ring valued at $300.

A man armed with a handgun walked into the Subway located at 725 E. Church Street last Wednesday night. The man demanded money from the cash register. While he was emptying the cash drawer, one of the employees got into a physical altercation with the man and chased him from the building.

The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. The employee suffered a minor facial injury during the scuffle.  Courtesy The Daily Record
