Arrests Made In Dollar General Robbery

JOHNSTON COUNTY – Detectives with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office have arrested two suspects in the armed robbery of Dollar General, at 10525 Cleveland Road, Garner.

James Marcus Almond, age 50, of Gardner Road, Four Oaks and a 16 year-old juvenile are charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, and two counts of second degree kidnapping.

Authorities allege the suspect in this surveillance photo is James Marcus Almond.

On July 16 around 9:50pm, Almond and the juvenile reportedly entered the Dollar General armed with handguns. They stole an undisclosed amount of money then ordered two employees to the floor. They told the employees to count to 30 before getting up. The employees were also sprayed with mace.

Almond and the juvenile were arrested July 21. Almond was held under a $175,000 secured bond. The juvenile was transported to an undisclosed youth detention facility.

None of the cash taken during the holdup has been recovered.
