Arrests Made In Double Murder

Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell announced late-Thursday two arrests have been made in connection with a double homicide.

Gerald Thomas Paul Jr. of North Twelfth Street, Erwin and Tara Nicole Wilson of Orange Avenue, Dunn have been formally charged with the deaths of Matthew Jones and Jessica Pyatte, both of Newton Grove. The victims were found shot to death inside a mobile home on Unity Drive in southern Johnston County on March 10th.

Jones two year-old child was found inside the residence. The child was not harmed and has been placed with family members.

Paul, 21, was in the Harnett County Jail when the murder warrants were served against him.  According to court records, Paul has been in jail since March 12th on a methamphetamine possession charge.

Wilson was charged with accessory after the fact of murder.

“Deputies have worked around the clock over the past week investigating this double homicide that occurred at 112 Unity Drive, near Newton Grove, in southern Johnston County,” Sheriff Bizzell said.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the two murders, which still remains an active investigation.
