Arrests Made In Wendy’s Restaurant Drive-Thru Murder Investigation

DUNN – Police in Dunn have made two arrests following the murder of a man inside his car in the drive-thru of Wendy’s Restaurant at 594 E. Jackson Boulevard.  At 5:40pm Thursday, Dunn Police responded to a report of a person who had been shot inside their car.

Dunn Police identified the victim as 31 year-old Xavier Lemon of Coats.  He died from apparent gunshot wounds while sitting in his car in the drive thru of the fast food restaurant.

Police Chief Clark White said two suspects were later arrested and charged with Xavier Lemon’s murder.   William Brandon McNeill, 26, of E. King Circle, Benson and Miesha Kenyata Thompson, 29, of Lamm Avenue, Erwin were both charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.  McNeill was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

In a press release, Chief White said the shooting was not a random act of violence and police do not believe there is any additional threat to the public. A motive for the homicide was not released.

Both McNeill and Thompson were confined in the Harnett County Jail with no bond pending their first court appearance.

The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office and Erwin Police assisted Dunn Police with the investigation.
