Asleep At The Wheel, Man Busted On Felony Charges

GARNER – On November 23 around 1:34am, a Johnston County SAFE Team deputy was on patrol through the Sheetz parking lot on NC 42 at NC 50. The deputy said he noticed a man who appeared to be asleep behind wheel of a car at a fuel pump.

The officer stopped his patrol car and walked over to check on the sleeping driver. The officer asked the man, identified as Zachary Preston Kablack, 34, of Raleigh to step out of his car.

During a search of the car, the deputy reportedly found a powdery substance which appeared to be crushed Oxycodone pills, suspected methamphetamine, and prescription pills.

Kablack was charged with felony trafficking in opium or heroin, felony possession of methamphetamine, simple possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kablack was given a $50,000 bond after being processed at the Johnston County Detention Center, according to reports.
