Attempted Murder Suspect Surrenders

COATS – A 19 year-old suspect has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and breaking and entering to terrorize among other offenses. Avante McKoy of Holly Springs is accused of breaking into a home on Oakdale Street in Coats around 8:30pm on August 2nd.

Harnett County deputies responded and found two people had been shot.

McKoy turned himself into authorities this morning (Tuesday) at the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office. Other charges include two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, five counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property with serious bodily injury, and six counts of discharging a firearm from an enclosure.

A motive has not been disclosed. McKoy is being held on a $1 million bond.
