Police detectives are investigating the attempted robbery of a Smithfield business. The incident was reported at 6:55pm Wednesday at Boost Mobile at 1006 N. Brightleaf Boulevard.
A lone black male suspect entered the cell phone store and demanded money. No weapon was displayed. He fled on foot.The suspect was approximately 6 foot 1, 175 pounds, and was wearing a yellow shirt.
Officers do not believe the attempted robbery at Boost Mobile is related to a holdup at 9:10am Wednesday at 101 Smoke Shop at 600 S. Brightleaf Boulevard. That suspect is also believed to have robbed a Selma convenience store a short time earlier.
Wednesday’s attempted holdup marks the third robbery at the same Boost Mobile store in as many years. The business was robbed in September 2020 and January 2018.
