A man wanted by authorities in Wayne County is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Around 12:30pm Monday, police said a man and woman were getting a ride from a stranger when the person tried to rob them at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Speedway/McDonald’s on US 70 West in Goldsboro.
The male victim resisted the holdup but during the attempt the suspects gun discharged. Luckily no one was hit.
The victims gave Goldsboro Police the suspect and vehicle description. Wayne County deputies spotted the car a short time later but the driver crashed the car and fled on foot. An extensive manhunt to arrest the suspect, Ricky Terrell Ward, 33, of Mt. Olive was not successful.
Goldsboro Police have obtained warrants for Ward’s arrest. Once located he will be charged with attempted armed robbery, discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Ward is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Anyone who may locate Ward is asked not to approach him but should call 9-1-1.
