The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man who was found dead inside a McGee Road home outside of Benson on Tuesday. The victim was identified as 48 year-old Bruce Edward Winbush.
Authorities have not said how Winbush may have died but said an autopsy is being performed today (Wednesday) at the NC Medical Examiners Office to determine the exact cause of death. Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said the circumstances surrounding the victims death are still undetermined.
The address where Winbush died, which is near McGee’s Crossroads, was the same location deputies were called to around 11:00pm Monday for an assault. A 27 year-old man said he was attacked and beaten with a baseball bat. It’s unknown if the two incidents have any connection.
