A 12 year-old boy was struck and killed while running across a busy highway Monday afternoon. The fatal accident occurred just after 4:00pm on South Lombard Street (NC 42) in Clayton.

alvan was with a friend coming from his home on Vouge Street in the Alta Mobile Home Park when a woman driving southbound on Lombard Street struck the child, according to Stacy Beard, Public Information Officer for the Town of Clayton. The friend was not injured.
Police, Fire and EMS personnel all tried to resuscitate Galvan but were not successful.
Based on the initial investigation from Clayton Police, Beard said officers do not believe the children even saw the car before running out into traffic. The driver will not face any charges. Photos by JoCoFire.com
