WTSB News has learned that law enforcement authorities are investigating a threat against a Johnston County public school.
The threat was first reported to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office around 7:00pm Wednesday.
WTSB News has confirmed a 13 year-old juvenile who attends Meadow School allegedly made a threat while off-campus to bring a gun to the school and start shooting.
Authorities reportedly spoke with the juvenile and guardian Wednesday night and determined the juvenile did not have a weapon and the threat did not appear to be credible.
Detective Lt. Don Pate said the case has been assigned to the detectives division and still remains under investigation. Officials have reportedly not determined if the 13 year-old will face any charges. If the student is charged the case will be heard in juvenile court because of their young age.
