Autopsy: Selma Man Died From Two Gunshot Wounds

The NC Medical Examiner’s Office has released the autopsy results of a Selma man who was gunned down last year in Benson.

Richard O’Neal Longmire, 39, was found dead in the front yard of a home on West Harnett Street by Benson Police on May 31, 2015.

According to the 9-page autopsy report, Longmire died from gunshot wounds to the abdomen and head.

Shooting-Benson-5Longmire’s murder still remains unsolved. On March 17th, Gov. Pat McCrory announced the State is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

Longmire is believed to have been involved in an altercation was shot and died at the scene.

Days after the fatal shooting, two brothers from Benson were charged with the murder but were later released from custody after the charges against them were dropped.
