JOHNSTON COUNTY – A Johnston County family is coping with the tragic death of a 1 year-old baby. Investigators confirmed a 16 year-old struck and killed the baby as he was leaving the family home, Thursday afternoon.
Authorities said the teenage driver got into a vehicle to pick up his sister from work. He pulled the car forward in the driveway and felt a bump. When he looked back he saw the baby had been ran over by the vehicle. The teen immediately summoned help from his mother and others who were inside the residence.
Johnston County EMS and West Johnston Fire first responders rushed to the scene on Inez Drive, off Massengill Pond Road, Angier but could not save the infant.
The baby had reportedly been inside the home only moments earlier and somehow wondered outside without being noticed.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed today (Friday) the death was accidental.
This is horribly tragic beyond anything I can imagine happening to anyone

I can’t imagine the amount of guilt the sibling will feel from this tragedy. God doesn’t make mistakes. He needed that little angel called home. Praying for your entire family!

This is such a sad event to happen to the family of this little one. This is a pain of what parents go through at such a tragic thing. And, for the young driver, I can’t imagine the pain that he’s going through. Just know family, that the community is surrounding you with love, praying and share the grief with you. I; myself, lost a young one several years back. I’m keep all of you in the grieving process. And know that as you go through the great deal of pain. May the grace of GOD keep you close. Hang on to HIS unchanging hand and let HIM comfort you.

You’re obviously not a patent or don’t know children too well.
This is a tragic loss and I can’t begin to imagine the pain this family feels. May God help you in your time of loss. Hold hope you will see that little person again one day. Hope is a beautiful thing.
Prayers for both the family of the baby and the 16-year old, his sister and their family. Obviously this was a horrible mistake, and he was only pulling out of his driveway by the sound of it. The parents and the 16 year old boy will live with guilt for the rest of their lives.
What a horrible trauma to live with at such a young age for the boy. He probably only just started driving, too.
