Bag Containing $5,000 In Cash Stolen

Smithfield Police are looking for a beach bag containing $5,000 in cash. The bag was reportedly left behind by a patron at the Holiday Inn on South Equity Drive over-the-weekend. A Canadian woman mistakenly left the bag behind after checking out of her room. When she returned to retrieve the bag it was missing. 

Police said the bag contained $5,000 in cash a $600 computer tablet and the 61 year-old victims passport.

Police Captain R.K. Powell said the incident remains under investigation. Authorities do not have any suspects.
