Benson Business Recognized

Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment #1236 Commandant Timothy Daniel has presented the February monthly Good Business Award to Pure Gas Station on South Wall Street in Benson.

Pure Gas Station, also known as X Press Mart, was recognized for properly and continuously displaying the American flag at their location, reminding all who visit or travel past their establishment “America first and her undivided Allegiance.”

The award was presented to the owner Harbinder Singh Gill, and his wife Jasvir Kaur Gill. Mr. Gill was born and raised in India and received his bachelor’s degree in Math while his father served in the Indian Army as a two star General. Mr. Gill moved to the United States in 1985 and has worked very hard his entire life.

“For me, freedom is breaking every shackle that you feel is holding you back from achieving your goals and dreams,” Gill said. “Be it your own inhibitions, your family, society, or politics. When you know in your heart what you want to do in this life is right, and you can follow your dreams without any bonds or fears then you are really free, and that is why I love America and will always support and defend her.”

“I am truly grateful that the Johnston County Marine Corps League has bestowed this award upon me and recognized my hard work and dedication to the wonderful country that we call home,” Gill added.
