HICKORY, NC – Madelyn Herring, the daughter of Corby and Ericka Herring of Benson, competed in the 37th annual Little Miss and Teen Miss North Carolina State pageant held August 3-6 in Hickory, NC. She was crowned Young Miss North Carolina. The pageant was directed by Carolyn Marley and Mary Painter.
Madelyn was awarded Most Beautiful, Fitness (Swimsuit) Winner, Interview Winner, Theme Wear Winner, First Runner Up Photogenic, and Overall Casual Wear Winner. She won a $100 cash prize and a Royalty Cruise vacation.
The 14 year-old plans to travel around North Carolina during her reign performing community service and promoting her platform, “For The Love Of Baby Conner”, in memory of her cousin who passed away from SIDS. She plans to spread awareness and raise money for the American SIDS Foundation.
