PVT Andrew William Benson, 18, of Benson graduated from United States Marine boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island on January 5th.
PVT Benson successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive training at MCRD Parris Island as one of 82 recruits in Training Platoon 2001.
While in recruit training PVT Benson earned his Rifle Expert Marksmanship badge. Following ten days home on leave he will report to Camp Geiger for two months at Infantry Training Battalion then Military Occupational School.
Benson is the son of Perry and Denise Benson of Benson and the grandson of William Earl and Rose Rains of Princeton.
He is a 2017 graduate of West Johnston High School near Benson.
