The NC Department of Transportation has informed the Town of Benson that due to setbacks caused by inclement weather Main Street paving will now begin on Monday, November 5.
Contractors are set to begin Monday night, Nov. 5th and work from 7PM to 6AM. They will continue paving on the nights of November 6, 7, 8, and 9 — working 7PM to 6AM to complete the project.
The contractor was delayed due to rainy weather from the remnants of Hurricane Michael, and elected to come back after Mule Days.
Paving will begin on the outside lanes, then move into the inside lanes, followed by the intersections.
Main Street will still have active lanes open during paving operations, but some intersections may be closed with detour signage placed before the closure.
Contractors are asking that all vehicles be moved from parking spots along Main Street before paving begins each night at 7PM.
