Benson Man Seriously Injured In Christmas Eve Crash

FOUR OAKS – A 21 year-old man was seriously injured in a single vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon.

At 2:48pm, a 2002 Toyota pickup traveling eastbound on Elevation Road, near Black Creek Road outside Four Oaks, ran off the roadway to the right, overcorrected, crossed the centerline and ran off the roadway on the left side, striking a tree.

The driver, 21 year-old George Noe Molina of Benson, was seriously injured.  He was rushed by Four Oaks EMS to Wake Medical Center with serious injuries.

A section of Elevation Road was shutdown for more than an hour until the scene could be cleared.

According to an accident report, speed was a factor however alcohol was not involved.  Molina was estimated to have been traveling at 65 mph in a 55 mph zone on Elevation Road when he lost control. The Toyota left 255 feet of tire impressions before impact.  The report stated the truck was still traveling at an estimated 60 mph when it collided with the tree.

Trooper D.L. Purdie cited Molina with failure to maintain lane control.

At last report, Molina was in stable condition at Wake Medical Center.

The NC Highway Patrol, Four Oaks EMS, Johnston County EMS, and Four Oaks Fire Department responded.
