Benson Police: Hit And Run Driver Intentionally Struck Pedestrian

Benson Police are searching for a vehicle they believe intentionally struck a pedestrian then fled from the scene.  The incident happened around 11:30pm Friday. A pedestrian was struck and injured by a vehicle at Gaines Mobile Home Park located at 1402 Chicopee Road in Benson.

Officers found the 43 year-old victim in the roadway, near Lot 77, with obvious injuries. EMS transported him to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh for treatment of serious injuries.

The initial investigation has determined that this was an intentional act and not a motor vehicle accident.

“We are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate the person or persons responsible for this senseless act,” said Benson Chief of Police Greg Percy. “This type of violence is not typical of our community and the victim and his family deserve to know who did this. Please, if you know something, give us a call.”
