Benson Police Searching For Shooting Suspect


Benson Police are searching for a 17 year-old suspect considered to be armed and dangerous who is wanted in connection for a shooting at the Benson Housing Authority apartment complex.

Three people were injured around 12:30am Saturday when multiple shots were fired at the apartment complex, located at  East Benton and South Whittington Streets.

Two males and one female were injured. Police said two of the three victims were struck directly by the gunfire.  Police have not said how the third victim was injured.

Benson Police have now obtained warrants for the arrest of Lamont Moore, whose last known address was on Bunnlevel-Erwin Road in Harnett County. Moore is considered to be armed and dangerous.  Police are working with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend the teenage suspect.

Once located, Moore will be charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.   Additional charges against Moore are possible and additional arrests have not been ruled out.

Investigators have not released a motive.
