Benson Teen Injured During Selma Robbery

Selma Police are investigating the weekend robbery of a Benson teenager. The 16 year-old victim said he was pistol-whipped and shot at during a robbery in the parking lot of the Harrison Gymnasium on South Brevard Street.

Around 10:30pm Saturday, the victim told police he was sitting in his mother’s car in the parking lot when three suspects approached with their heads and faces concealed by hoodies.  One of the robbers pulled out a semi-automatic handgun, pointed it at his head and demanded his wallet. The victim said he grabbed the gun and struggled with the suspect before the robber pistol-whipped him, causing serious injury.

The 3 suspects reportedly fled on foot on South Brevard Street. The victim said he momentarily gave chase until 3 shots were fired towards him. He returned to his car and called police.

Police recovered a 9mm shell casing near the scene but could not locate the suspects.  Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Selma Police at 919-965-8189.
