The Town of Benson will host its annual Veterans’ Day celebration and parade this Saturday at the Singing Grove. All veterans, active duty service and local citizens are invited to enjoy a parade along Main Street and lunch.
This year’s parade entrants will include local girl scout troops, Full Throttle Car Club, area veterans and the American Legion Riders, among others. The procession will make its way through downtown Benson at noon. Lunch — barbecue and hotdogs — will follow at 12:30pm, served in the Singing Grove. The event is free to all.
Lineup for parade entrants will begin at 11:15am along East Parrish Street (behind the Singing Grove). The Singing Grove is located at 402 East Main Street.
In addition to the town’s Veteran’s Day activities, Benson’s GALOT Motorsports Park will also host its “Mad Mule Finale” on Saturday — featuring pro mod cars, 4.70 outlaws and dragsters battling for the top spot in the Winner’s Circle. Any veteran or active duty military person with an ID will be admitted to the event for free. Gates open at 8am — first round of qualifying begins at 11am.
