The Town of Smithfield has awarded a bid to repair the shelter at the Talton Park Soccer Field. The Parks & Recreation Department had previously budgeted funds to make repairs to the shelter this year.
Three bids were received. JLP Carpentry of Four Oaks was awarded the low bid of $9,500 to replace the shingle roof with a green metal roof, replace fascia and wrap the fascia with vinyl, and paint all exposed wood and posts. The work will also include adding a plywood ceiling to protect and hide the exposed rafters of the shelter.
Another bid of $9,500 was received but it did not include the plywood ceiling. A third bid in the amount of $14,000 was also received.
