Board of Education Changes Meeting Time To Accommodate Public

In an effort to accommodate more persons who may be interested in attending their monthly meetings, the Johnston County Board of Education has made the decision to start the public portion of its meeting at 4 p.m. until further notice.

The meeting would start officially with open session at the normal 2 p.m. time to open the meeting with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance.  The Board would then vote to go directly into closed session to discuss personnel and legal issues. At 4 p.m., the board would return to open session to conduct its business. To further accommodate those who wish to address the Board, the Public Comment section will be moved to a 6 p.m. slot.

Any other business or the necessity of going back into closed session will commence after public comment.

“These meetings are open to the public and we are truly committed to inviting our stakeholders to participate with attendance. We are happy to make this change on behalf of our constituents,” said Board Chairman Mike Wooten.

The school board meets the second Tuesday of each month.
