The body of a man found in a Clayton creek on June 4th was identified on Monday as that of a missing Johnston County man.
The badly decomposed remains of 47 year-old Michael Dean Johnson was pulled from a creek bed near the Amelia Village Apartments, off Amelia Church Road. Johnson’s body was found by a man and two teens walking to a nearby fishing spot.
Johnson had been reported missing to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office on May 7th by his grandfather. They lived together in the 9700 block of Cleveland Road, Clayton.
Clayton Police said Johnson was known to frequent the Shotwell Road/Clayton Corners Shopping Center area, near where he was found.
No foul play is suspected.
