The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office discovered a body inside a McGee’s Crossroads home Tuesday morning. It was the same location deputies responded to last night.
Around 11:00pm Monday, deputies responded to the 200 block of McGee Road off Highway 50 North outside of Benson after a 27 year-old man reported he had been attacked by several people and beaten with a baseball bat. The victim was taken to Johnston Medical Center in Clayton for treatment and released this morning.
Deputies were called back to the same address Tuesday morning after a body was found inside the home. The NC Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene to assist with the death investigation. Authorities have not said how the victim may have died. Officials did not release the name of the victim but said it was not the same individual who was assaulted with the baseball bat last night.
