Bomb Threat Made Against Local McDonald’s Was A Hoax

CLEVELAND – Authorities have ruled a bomb threat made against a Johnston County McDonald’s as a hoax. Around 8:30pm Friday, August 11, someone placed a phone call to McDonald’s at 50 Glen Road, near the I-40 / NC42 interchange, in the Cleveland community. The unknown caller claimed a box had been left in a bathroom and was set to explode in 15 minutes.

Store employees evacuated the building and called 911.

First responders arrived and cordoned off the area. During a thorough search of the restaurant, no box or suspicious package was located.

The restaurant reopened later that evening.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Anyone with information about the unfounded bomb threat is asked to call 919-989-5000. Callers may remain anonymous.

  1. I don’t know. I think bad special sauce might lead to someone blowing up a McDonald’s bathroom.
