Bomb Threat Phoned Into Business

A Johnston County convenience store reopened Tuesday night after emergency personnel made sure there wasn’t a bomb inside.

Around 10:30pm, someone called Sheetz at the intersection of Highway 42 West and Cornwallis Road claiming there was a bomb in the store and it would detonate in one minute.

Johnston County deputies arrived on the scene quickly and conducted a thorough search of the premises and determined the threat was a hoax.

Authorities said the store had received several prank phone calls recently but this was the first bomb threat.  No injuries were reported and the business was quickly back to normal operations.

Detectives are now working to trace the phone call.
