FOUR OAKS – Charges have been filed against the drivers of two vehicles involved in a head-on collision Friday night in Johnston County.
The 9:03pm accident occurred on Highway 701 approximately one-half mile south of Keen Road.
According to the State Highway Patrol, Jose Fransico Parada-Madrigal, 35, of Webb Mill Road, Four Oaks was traveling southbound on Highway 701 in a 2001 Ford van. His vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head on with a 2013 GMC truck traveling northbound and operated by Griselda Juares Canales, 40, of S. Baker Street, Four Oaks. Both vehicles were traveling at 55mph at the time of impact.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries. A 1 year-old baby in the GMC truck was injured but not seriously. Troopers said both drivers were wearing seat belts and the infant was in a child restraint seat. The injured were transported to Wake Med.
Parada-Madrigal was charged by Trooper R.D. Garrett with driving left of center and driving without a license. Canales was charged with driving without a license.
The Four Oaks and Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Departments and Johnston County EMS responded.
