Both drivers involved in a two vehicle accident on US 70 Business at Interstate 95 in Smithfield are facing charges.
Smithfield Police said the crash occurred at 6:57am Monday.
According to an accident report, Feliciana Cruz-Antunez, 41, of N. Hall Street, Benson was operating a 2006 Honda and was attempting to turn onto US70 Business from the stop sign at the I-95 northbound off ramp to travel west.
Cruz-Antunez pulled into the path of a 1996 Chevy truck driven by Shannon Marie Dupree, 39, of Crooked Branch Drive, Selma. The truck struck the Honda in the driver’s side door. Police estimated the truck was traveling at 30mph at the time of impact and the Honda was traveling 15mph.
Both drivers were taken by Johnston County EMS to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. There were no other occupants in the vehicles.
Police cited Cruz-Antunez with driving without a license. Dupree was cited for driving on a revoked license.
Damage to the Honda was estimated at $7,000. Damage to the Chevy truck as placed at $2,000.
