Box Truck Hits Brick Column At Food Lion

SMITHFIELD — A box truck sideswiped a brick column outside the Food Lion on W. Market Street Monday afternoon, causing bricks to fall to the ground.

No pedestrians were hit by the falling debris, and the driver of the truck was not injured.

Johnston County Building Inspections responded to assess the damage.

Smithfield Police also responded to the scene and took an accident report. No additional information was immediately released.
