The Johnston County Cooperative Extension Service has hired Brandon Parker as the Commercial Horticulture Agent. A native of Four Oaks, Brandon was active in 4-H and FFA throughout his youth and is a graduate of South Johnston High School and NC State University.
Bryant Spivey, Johnston County Extension Director said, “Brandon has a willingness to help others, and we are pleased to have him with us in Johnston County. His background in 4-H and FFA have given him a good understanding of Agriculture, and combined with his education from NCSU, he is prepared to help clients with horticulture interests in Johnston County.”
As the Commercial Horticulture Agent, Brandon will be responsible for commercial vegetable crop production, nurseries and greenhouses, pond management, farmers markets and agritourism. Brandon comments, “This is a great opportunity to work in and assist growers in my home county.”
