Buies Creek – Campbell redshirt junior Jaquan Brooks has been named FCS Preseason Third Team All-America as a punt returner by STATS.
A Belmont, N.C. native, Brooks notched 289 punt return yards on 23 attempts (12.6 average) with a touchdown in 2017.
An honorable mention Preseason All-Big South pick this season, Brooks was named Second Team All-PFL as a punt returner by Phil Steele as a redshirt sophomore in 2017, also collecting PFL Special Teams Player of the Week accolades after Campbell’s week one win over Methodist.
Brooks returned five Methodist punts for a Campbell record 141 yards in the victory, adding a touchdown in his 2017 debut. The performance included a 54 yard return for a touchdown in the first quarter, the second longest punt return in CU’s modern history.
He was also the Camels’ top pass catcher last season with 28 grabs, going for 305 yards receiving. Brooks is already Campbell’s all-time leader in punt returns and punt return yards with 30 for 372.
Campbell kicks off its 2018 schedule on August 30, hosting Chowan at Barker-Lane Stadium. The Camels open Big South play October 20 at Monmouth.
