A thief cut power to a Johnston County convenience store before breaking into the business. It happened at the Micro Mini Mart on US 301 at Main Street in Micro.
Johnston County deputies responded to an alarm at the business around 1:50am Friday.
Officers found power had been turned off at the breaker box to the business and the front door had been pried open.
The owner arrived and told officers nothing appeared to have been taken.
An audible alarm did not function because the power had been cut but a silent alarm to notify law enforcement did work.
The sheriff’s office responded to the scene because the Town of Micro is without a full time police chief.
