A 26 year-old man was injured after being beaten and shot at during an apparent home invasion.
Johnston County deputies said they received a call from a nearby homeowner on Lainey Street, off Bratton Drive, near the I-40/NC42 interchange around 10:00 o’clock Tuesday night saying they heard a gunshot.
Officers arrived and spotted a door to an apartment had been kicked in. A 26 year-old man inside the apartment was covered in blood and suffering from injuries. The victim told officers he was inside the apartment when two suspects kicked in the front door and then starting beating on him. As the suspects left the residence, one of the intruders fired a shot towards him but missed. No items were reported missing from the home.
The victim was transported to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
