Burglary Reported Near Clayton

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an usual burglary reported Thursday near Clayton.

It happened in the East Lake Subdivision off Neuse River Parkway.

Around 1:00am Thursday, the homeowner said he was awakened by the sound of his garage door opening but thought it was a family member returning home.  While getting ready to go to work that morning he discovered food items and a full beer container next to his garage door.  He also discovered an empty beer container at his mailbox.  The food and beer reportedly did not belong to the homeowner.

Closely examining his home the victim discovered a video game system was missing.

The homeowner then discovered his wallet on the front porch with a note from a Good Samaritan who had apparently found the wallet in the area of Falls of the Neuse Road in Raleigh and had returned it. The wallet still contained the victims credit cards, cash and personal information.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the East Lake subdivision Wednesday night or Thursday morning to contact detectives. Officers would also like to speak with the Good Samaritan who returned the stolen wallet from Raleigh to determine exactly where it was located.
