A Wayne County man is facing a long list of charges following a business break-in and car chase.
Monday night, Goldsboro Police responded to a burglar alarm at the Speedway on US 117 South and discovered a break-in. Officers were able to review the video surveillance footage from the store and obtain a description of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving.
Around 2:00 AM Tuesday, an officer spotted the vehicle and gave chase. The chase ended near Fremont when the driver crashed into a guardrail and fled on foot across Interstate 795. After a brief foot pursuit, 33 year-old Phillip Anthony Norris of Dudley was captured.
Police said Norris was in the possession of items taken during the convenience store break-in along with items from a burglary that was later reported at Phone Case World on W. Patetown Road.
Norris was treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital for the injuries he sustained in the high speed crash. After his release from the hospital he was served with several warrants including breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of stolen property. Police said additional charges including fleeing to elude arrest and charges from the Phone Case World break-in are pending.
