The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the possible link between a house fire and two burn victims found at another location Monday morning.
Around 5:20am, a house fire was reported at 1920 Leroy Autry Road in the Autryville community. Fire departments from Autryville, Salemburg, Roseboro, Clement, Stedman, and Herring responded along with Roseboro Rescue and Sampson County EMS.
Sheriff Captain Eric Pope said the fire is suspicious in nature and currently under investigation with the assistance of the Sampson County Fire Marshal.
Prior to the report of the fire, Sampson County EMS was responded to South River Road near Salemburg to treat two burn victims. A male and a female with ties to the Leroy Autry Road address were transported to the hospital by EMS for severe burns.
The investigation into both incidents is ongoing. The names of the burn victims is currently being withheld.
