After two decades of outstanding service, Johnston County Schools has recognized Shannon Brock as the 2015-2016 Driver of the Year.

Brock works as a kindergarten teacher assistant at Glendale-Kenly Elementary and serves as the morning bus driver for Bus 82.

She began her career in the school system in August 1996 and began driving a bus shortly thereafter. She shows extreme dedication to her job, and has had perfect attendance driving her bus since her first day behind the wheel.

Brock is known among her fellow bus drivers as the “bus cheerleader,” for always being willing to help whenever and wherever she can, and being the first to ask if she can help cover afternoon bus routes.

Her colleagues said she greets every student with a smile every time they board her bus, communicates well with school administrators, and pays close attention to details.

School administrators, fellow drivers, and students alike said they hold a huge amount of respect and love for Brock.

Brock was also awarded the North Johnston Area County Driver of the year. She said she takes great pride in being able to display all the plaques and trophies she has received over the years in her home on shelves her husband custom built.
