Smithfield Police are investigating a break-in and suspicious fire at a local business. The burglary was discovered Monday morning at Coor Farm Supply at 3 Malta Street off E. Market Street.
Police said sometime between Friday night and early Monday someone forcibly entered an outbuilding at Coor Farm Supply then attempted to set various merchandise on fire. Police Captain R. Sheppard said the total damage from the fire was less than $3,000. Damage to a door was estimated at $200.
