Buies Creek – Campbell senior Drew Butler has been named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 3 Baseball Team.
At least one Campbell student-athlete has achieved academic all-district status in each of the last 23 years. A Camel has been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 Baseball Team eight straight years, and 18 times total since 1994.
Butler, a senior from Rockingham, N.C., owns a .294 average on the season with 43 runs scored and 19 RBI for the Camels. He leads NCAA Division I in stolen bases with 33 while maintaining a 3.71 GPA in economics.
Butler was also a semifinalist for the Senior CLASS Award in 2017.
First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
