Kendrick Byrd was named Area Assistant Superintendent for Middle Schools at a Special Session Johnston County Board of Education meeting on Friday, June 25.
Byrd has served Johnston County Public Schools for the last decade. Most recently he worked as the Director of Certified Personnel in Human Resources. He begins his new role on July 1.
“My goal is to help Johnston County Public Schools become the greatest school district in this state,” said Byrd. “I am looking forward to working with our principals and senior leadership to achieve great things.”
Byrd has served as a Director and Principal during his time with JCPS. In his new position he will work with middle schools to help meet the district’s goal of 100 percent of schools receiving an A, B, or C by the year 2022-2023.
Byrd received his master’s in School Administration from N.C. State University and his Education Specialist degree from East Carolina University.
“We are committed to achieving the goals we have set for our school system,” said JCPS Superintendent Dr. Eric Bracy. “I am confident in Mr. Byrd’s ability to help our schools and students perform at a higher level. I look forward to working with him in this role.”
