West Johnston High School graduate Don Byrd has been reappointed by Gov. Pat McCrory to the North Carolina State Youth Advisory Council.
Byrd was president of Future Farmers of America at West Johnston and served as one of 15 national delegates from North Carolina to participate in the 85th National FFA Convention in 2012.
Byrd is studying business administration at UNC-Chapel Hill. Don is currently a junior in the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC-Chapel Hill. At Carolina, he is a member
of Cru as well as the Vice-President of the UNC Finance Society. Since being at Carolina, Don has studied abroad in China and most recently in England at the London School of Economics. In his free time, he enjoys working on the family farm, hunting, and spending time outdoors with friends and family.
Don is a member of Benson Grove Baptist Church. He is the son of Donald and Denise Byrd of the McGee’s Crossroads Community.
