Thanks to the quick actions of bystanders an 8 year-old boy is alive.
Saturday morning, the child was riding in an all terrain vehicle (ATV) with an adult at Buscoe Beach near Goldsboro when the ATV tipped over in the water.
Several people were able to upright the ATV and pulled the young victim from underneath the water.
Two off-duty nurses happened to be nearby. They began resuscitating the victim. The child was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital and is responding well.
The name of the child has not been released. The Wayne County Sheriff’s office is investigating the near drowning. JoCoReport.com File Photo
