Buies Creek – The Fighting Camels will head to Athens, Ga. to begin NCAA Regional play, as revealed by the NCAA Baseball selection show Monday afternoon on ESPNU.

No. 4 seed Campbell will open the regional against top-seeded host Georgia on Friday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. Joining the pair will be No. 2 seed Duke and No. 3 seed Troy, who will face off at 2 p.m. at Foley Field.

The Camels secured an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 7-5 victory over High Point in Saturday’s “Winner Take All” Big South Tournament Championship Game. Campbell will make its third regional appearance in program history when it travels to Athens, last making the field in 2014.

2018 Big South Coach of the Year Justin Haire has led the Camels to a 35-24 record in 2018, good for CU’s winningest season since 2014. Campbell racked up a program-record 21 victories in conference play, claiming eight-of-nine weekend series on the way to its first Big South regular season title since 2013.

Eight Camels were named All-Conference, highlighted by Big South Pitcher of the Year Allan Winans and Freshman of the Year Logan Bender. Winans and Bender joined Matthew Barefoot and Jeff Hahs as First Team All-Big South honorees, while Christian Jones, Michael Horrell and Tyson Messer were selected Second Team All-Conference. Additionally, senior infielder Kyle Mehl represented Campbell on the All-Academic Team.
