Camels Put On Shoulder Pads Monday

Buies Creek – Campbell held its first practice in shoulder pads Monday at Barker-Lane Stadium, continuing preparations for the 2017 season.

The Camels will practice again in shoulder pads and helmets Tuesday before putting on full pads Wednesday. The team’s first scrimmage will be held Thursday, August 3 at 6 p.m.

CU’s second scrimmage will come on August 10, with a third on August 17. The Camels will host their annual Fan Fest on August 26 at 7 p.m., closing out preseason camp. All practices and scrimmage dates and times are subject to change. All practices will be held at Barker-Lane Stadium.

Campbell heads into its 10th season on the gridiron in 2017 (modern era), bringing football back to the Creek in 2008 after a 58 year hiatus. 2017 will also mark the program’s final season as a member of the PFL before heading to the Big South in 2018.

The Camels return 44 letterwinners, including 11 starters (six offense, five defense), from their 2016 squad that went 5-5 overall and 3-4 in PFL play, notching the program’s second season at .500 or better in the modern era.

Campbell kicks off its 2017 schedule on August 31, hosting Methodist at Barker-Lane Stadium.
