Campbell Baseball To Host First Alumni Game

Campbell baseball will hold the program’s first alumni game this Saturday, October 7th at Jim Perry Stadium in Buies Creek.

The matchup will feature a team of former Camel players against CU’s current squad. A full day of activities is planned starting with an optional round of golf at Campbell’s Keith Hills Country Club at 8:00 a.m.

At 2:00 p.m., an alumni meet and greet luncheon is scheduled inside the Jim and Daphne Perry Pavilion. The alumni team will take batting practice on the field at 3:30 p.m. in preparation for the contest.

First pitch for the alumni game is set for 4:30 p.m. A postgame alumni BBQ will follow the game at the stadium and will start at approximately 7:00 p.m. and run until 9:00 p.m.

Currently, over 30 former players have already signed up to participate in the event including current minor league pitchers Ryan Thompson and Heath Bowers along with former major league pitcher and current pro player Matt Marksberry.

“This will be a great day for our program, as many of the past players and their families will be returning to see our new facility upgrades and campus for the first time in a long time,” said head coach Justin Haire. “We know that connecting with the successful past that we have had is an important part of building a bright future, and we are looking forward to seeing all these former players back on campus.

“I expect the game to be very fun and competitive, as some of our most decorated recent graduates have committed to come back and play. A number of our pro players and former All-Americans will be return to compete and share with our current players. It should be an amazing day to celebrate our past, and continue to grow of our program.”

All former baseball alumni and families are welcome to come and partake in the festivities. Interested alumni can contact Coach Haire at hairej@campbell.edu for more information or to reserve their spot.
