BUIES CREEK – Campbell has announced nine future non-conference football games, including trips to North Carolina State and Florida, as well as a pair of home and home FCS opponents.
Ranging from 2021 until 2028, the dates include four games against FBS opponents (Liberty – 2024, NC State – 2025, 2028, Florida – 2026), plus five FCS matchups (James Madison – 2021, Delaware State – 2022, 2024, Western Carolina – 2024, 2025). Seven of the nine newly unveiled games will come on the road.
The first of the newly announced dates will come in 2021 at perennial FCS power James Madison (Nov. 6). The Dukes have claimed a pair of national championships, most recently in 2016, and prior to that 2004, with appearances in the national title game in three of the last four years.
Campbell will begin a home and home series with MEAC charter member Delaware State in 2022, heading to Dover, Del. for the first ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron (Nov. 19). The Hornets will then head to Barker-Lane Stadium two seasons later to complete the series (Aug. 29), giving the Camels their first home date of the 2024 season.
CU will also travel to Southern Conference member Western Carolina in 2024 (Sept. 7) to start a two game series with the Catamounts. The Camels met their first ever SoCon opponent in 2019, topping Mercer 34-27 on the road. Mercer is also on the Camels’ 2020 home schedule. Campbell will also host WCU in 2025 (Sept. 27).
The third and final scheduled nonconference date of 2024 will be a second trip to FBS Independent, and former Big South foe Liberty. The programs will meet for the first time in a previously announced 2021 game in Lynchburg, Va.
Highlighting the Camels’ future dates are a pair of trips to nearby Raleigh for games at N.C. State. Campbell will make its first appearance at Carter-Finley Stadium in 2025 (Oct. 4), making a return in 2028 (Sept. 23). The Wolfpack is one of two Atlantic Coast Conference programs on the Camels’ future schedules, along with a date at North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 2023. CU faced its first ever ACC opponent to close the 2020 season at Wake Forest.
Campbell’s football program will again make history in 2026, taking on its first SEC opponent at Florida (Sept. 12), heading to “The Swamp”, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, in Gainesville, Fla. The storied Gators claim three national championships (1996, 2006, 2008), along with three Heisman Trophy winners (Steve Spurrier: 1966, Danny Wuerffel: 1996, Tim Tebow: 2007).
See below for Campbell’s up to date future nonconference slate.
The Camels completed an abbreviated 2020 fall schedule, featuring four games, all at FBS opponents, making trips to Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State and Wake Forest.
2020 marked Campbell’s 13th season since bringing football back to Buies Creek in 2008.
