Campbell’s Brian Stryffeler Named To Academic All-Star Team

Buies Creek – Campbell’s Brian Stryffeler has been selected as one of 44 members of the 19th annual Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star team.

Also named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 squad and First Team Academic All-Pioneer Football League, Stryffeler helped Campbell rank third in the PFL in rushing offense this season, standing 14th nationally at 208.2 yards per game. The offensive lineman, majoring in exercise and sport science, also helped the Camels rank fourth in the PFL in total offense, standing 26th among FCS competition at 408.8 yards per game.

A redshirt junior with a 3.90 GPA, the Sanford, N.C. native started 19 straight games at Campbell, earning an All-PFL honorable mention this season after taking Second Team honors in 2015.

Football players from all Football Championship Subdivision institutions are eligible for the award. Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. He must have reached his second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. He must also have participated in 50 percent of the games played at his designated position.

Stryffeler is the fifth Camel to earn a place on the FCS ADA Academic All-Star team, joining Jordan Cramer (2011), Sam Eberwein (2012), Kurt Odom (2012, 2013) and Lucas Smith (2014).
